Within the framework of official visit to Brussels, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was received by Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who at the same time is Vice President of the European Commission. The meeting discussed bilateral issues, developments in the region, and the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
In this meeting, within the framework of first visit abroad, the Kosovo delegation led by Prime Minister Kurti, expressed their commitment to deep reforms in the country and European integration. Prime Minister Kurti stressed the need for the Government of Kosovo to be supported by the European Union in implementing its program in all areas, including efforts to successfully combat the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to provide new doses of vaccines. He said that Kosovo sees the European Union, not only as an institutional structure but also as a historical principal value and a progressive vision for the future. Prime Minister Kurti reiterated that Kosovo’s orientation towards the EU and NATO is clear and there’s no other alternative.
High Representative Borrell expressed satisfaction with the visit of Prime Minister Kurti, and thanked him for choosing Brussels for his first official visit, after taking office as Prime Minister. He congratulated him for the strong mandate and the great trust he has received from the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and wished him with this mandate and confidence to bring Kosovo closer to the European Union. High Representative Borrell said that Kosovo and its government can count on the support of the European Union, which is one of Kosovo’s biggest supporters.
