The Government of Kosovo allocates funds to anti-ISIS coalition

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Prime Minister,RamushHaradinaj, held its ninth regular meeting, wherein approved seven draft-laws and other decisions within constitutional and legal responsibilities.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Prime Minister,RamushHaradinaj, held its ninth regular meeting, wherein approved seven draft-laws and other decisions within constitutional and legal  responsibilities.

The draft-law on customs measures for protection of intellectual property rights is the first draft law, out of seven, approved by the Government in its meeting held today. This Draft Law governs the rights, responsibilities, principles and customs measures for goods infringing intellectual property rights.

Further, the Government approved the Draft Law on Ratification of the Financial Agreement for Competitiveness and Export Readiness Project between the Republic of Kosovo and the International Development Association. The agreement provides funding in the amount of EUR 14.3 million, at an effective annual interest rate of 1.20 percent, with a greys period of five years and the repayment term for 20 years.

Also, the draft-law on Ratification of the International Financial Agreement for Agriculture and Development Project between the Republic of Kosovo and the International Development Association received approval from the Government. The agreement provides funding in the amount of EUR 20.8 million.

The Draft Law on Amending and Supplementing the Law on State Border Control and Surveillance was also approved. The purpose of amending and supplementing this law is the transposition of European legislation establishing the Union Code on the rules governing the movement of persons across border.

The Government has also approved the Draft Law on Critical Infrastructure, which aims at preserving and protecting the critical national and European infrastructure, protecting the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, preventing incidents and minimizing the potential damage to critical infrastructure, economic and social losses, security and stability of the government as well as enhancing sustainability.

The Government Cabinet approved also the Draft Law on Standardization, which sets out the rules and principles for development of standardization activities in the Republic of Kosovo, as well as the organization and functioning of the Kosovo Standardization Agency.

Same time, the Draft Law on Business Organizations has received the approval of the government cabinet upon its meeting held. The draft law defines the types of companies that are required to register with the Kosovo Business Registration Agency. Organization and powers of the Agency of business organizations and the rights and obligations of shareholders, authorized representatives, owners, directors and third parties in relation to business organizations.

At today's meeting, the Government approved the decision to settle the annual contribution of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to the Regional Centre for Migration, Asylum and Refugees Initiative (MARRI), headquartered in Skopje. Contribution for 2017 amounts to EUR 17,580.
At the request of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Government allocated EUR 27,857 for the payment of employees for special services at the Presidential Residence Ibrahim Rugova.

By two separate decisions, the Government recommended to the President of the Republic of Kosovo to authorize the Minister of Justice for signing the Treaty on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons between the Republic of Kosovo and Hungary, and approved in principle the initiative for entering into extradition agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Hungary.

At the proposal of the Ministry of Justice, the Government approved the decision for proposal of the members of the Bar Examination Commission, consisting of:

1.      AleksandërLumezi – Chairman of the Commission, criminal law subject examiner, and BesimKelmendias substitute;
2.      Prof.dr. HaxhiGashi – Member, Civil Law subject examiner, Albert Zogajas substitute;
3.      NebojshaBoriqiq – Member, Commercial Law subject examiner, ÇerkinBerishaas substitute;
4.      Prof.dr. KadriKryeziu – Member, Constitutional Law examiner, organization of the Kosovo judicial system, European Union System fundamentals and human rights, Ivan Çukalloviqas substitute;
5.      EnverPeci – Member, Labour Law and Administrative Law subjects examiner, EmineKaqiku as substitute.

The proposal will be submitted to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo for review and adoption.

By means of a Decision approved today, Government of the Republic of Kosovo allocated fund amounting to US $ 100,000 (one hundred thousand US dollars) to anti-ISIS coalition. The Government of the Republic of Kosovo is also ready to support the initiative of returning expelled residents from their homes in Iraq and Syria, providing assistance in demining areas and humanitarian aid in housing, food, healthcare projects, energy and other needs.
 
Government cabinet approved the decision to allocate EUR 40 thousand to finance the renovation of primary school in Somolicë village of Bujanoc municipality.

The Government has decided to support the request of Gjilan Municipality's for financial support in implementation of the project for the construction of a water discharge dispenser in Përlepnicë catchment.

The Ministry of European Integration presented its Annual Report on Donor Activity for 2016. The total funding for this year amounted to EUR 173,622 million. The biggest donor is the European Union with over EUR 61 million. Other major bilateral donors are the United States Agency for International Development with EUR 33.6 million, followed by Germany with EUR 19.6 million and Switzerland with EUR15.4 million.
The Government has approved the request of the Ministry of Infrastructure for the drafting of the Special Zone Plan for the Kijev-Zahaq road axis.

The Prime Minister informed the Cabinet on the visit of the NATO Council and that of Congressman Eliot Engel to Kosovo during upcoming days.

The prime minister also concluded that current local election campaign process was democratic. Sunday is a vote casting day for local elections, stated Prime minister and appealed to all participants in these elections to show high democratic culture and convey positive message for our society.

The Minister of Education, Science and Technology informed the government cabinet with regards to the signing of a consent statement in the field of renewable energy research that will take place next week in Geneva.
